WRC-19: The next World Radiocommunication Conference is being held at Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, between 28 October to 22 November 2019. World radiocommunication conferences (WRC) are held every three to four years, the last one being WRC-15 and the next will be WRC-23. The objectives of WRC are to review, revise and plan for the regulation of radio spectrum.
Along with other industry bodies – GSMA for example – GSA supports the work of the ITU via the WRC programs and contribute to regional consultations on spectrum allocation. GSA Executive Members and Members are active in the GSA Spectrum Group that work both globally at the ITU level and regionally. The 70+ participants in the GSA spectrum Group are split into nine groups, eight regional teams and one ITU Coordination team. The regional teams have been very active in responding to consultations and study items from regulators and policy makers in the lead up to WRC-19.
In addition the Spectrum Group have contributed to a number of GSA spectrum reports which are free to download from the GSA web site one you are a registered user.
GSA and GSMA will be participating in the WRC-19 pavilion and will be demonstrating the strength of the 5G ecosystem – including showcasing 5G devices that support 5G millimetric wave spectrum via a 5G Devices Wall.
By November 2019 GSA predict there will be 150 5G devices announced and we plan the provide a visual demonstration of how quickly the 5G devices ecosystem has grown.
To join the showcase, email info@gsacom.com with your suggested 5G devices and we will consider your inclusion in this key industry event. All we request is a working or demo version of the device and a specification sheet. Ideally the device will support 5G millimetric wave bands.
