The GSA 4G-5G FWA Forum now counts more than 50 vendors among its membership, covering the majority of the infrastructure, chipset, module, software and CPE value chain for FWA.
One of the main deliverables is the annual 4G-5G FWA CPE Survey report to help the industry better estimate the real market size of the 4G-5G fixed wireless access market. The 2024 survey report is available to download here. The Forum also maintains the FWA Directory, the industry’s most comprehensive online catalogue promoting a wide range of FWA devices, chipsets and modules.
In addition, plenary events featuring a wealth of speakers from mobile operators, regulatory bodies and the equipment supply industry all discussing and debating a wide range of key FWA industry topics are organised in order to promote 4G-5G FWA adoption for the benefit of citizens and businesses worldwide. The sixth and most recent Plenary of was held on 19th June 2024 and included senior speakers from CSPs including Rain South Africa and Telkomsel, along with CPE vendor insights Asia Telco, Poynting Antennas and Tozed Kangwei. A full on-demand replay is available to watch here.

GSA 4G-5G FWA Forum’s FWA CPE Market Annual Survey

The purpose of the GSA 4G–5G FWA Forum is to educate the industry about the fixed wireless access (FWA) market. There are currently no agreed market definitions, there is a lack of market information and no consensus about the volume of FWA device shipments and FWA installed base globally.
GSA’s annual FWA CPE market survey aims to address these issues. It was first conducted in 2021 and this report presents the findings of the 2024 survey, where data was collected from May to June 2023. A total of 30 vendors of customer-premises equipment (CPE) from the GSA 4G–5G FWA Forum answered the survey.
“This year’s Fixed Wireless Access CPE market survey proves beyond doubt that 5G FWA has hit the mainstream. Not only has the growth in vendor shipments swung firmly behind 5G-enabled CPE devices, but operators are turning to FWA as the key driver for monetising their 5G network investments. , We see operators and vendors continue to work hand-in-hand on new innovations such as 5G standalone, Redcap, millimetre-wave and flexible self-install outdoor CPEs that will support the growth acceleration of 5G fixed wireless access services globally.” — John Yazlle, vice-chairman of the GSA 4G/5G FWA Forum.
GSA defines FWA as indoor or outdoor CPE that is AC-powered and designed for continuous 24-hour broadband connectivity on a fixed location. Battery-operated devices designed specifically for nomadic or sporadic use of broadband connectivity, such as MiFi or pocket routers or hot spots, are excluded from this definition. Industrial-grade and large enterprise-grade CPE and routers are also excluded.
Participants in the 2024 survey included: Airgain, Asiatelco Technologies Co, Askey, BEC Technologies, Chanhong, Compal, Da Ta Technologies, DZS (formerly Casa Systems), Elsys, Gemtek, Gongjin Mobile Communication/T&W, Green Packet, Huawei, Intelbras, Jaton Technology, MeiG Smart Technology, Nokia, Notion InfoTech, Shenzhen Jointelli, Smawave Technology, StartUSA, Tigercel, Tozed Kangwei, Vantiva, Wavetel, WNC, Xiamen Four-Faith, YaoJin Technology, ZTE and Zyxel.
The survey is intended to be repeated annually to create a baseline of data about the global 4G and 5G FWA market. This report presents a summary of selected survey findings.

GSA 4G -5G FWA Forum’s Contribution to EC’s consultation on White Paper: “How to master Europe’s digital infrastructure needs?”
Representing the 4G-5G FWA industry voice, the GSA FWA Forum participated to the public consultation about European Commission´s (EC) on their White Paper entitled “How to master Europe’s digital infrastructure needs?” which describes possible scenarios in the rollout of future connectivity networks in Europe trying to address a range of identified challenges.
Among them, bringing broadband connectivity to all EU citizens is a critical one. Indeed, millions of European households still lack access to fast and reliable broadband. Bridging this connectivity gap will require a range of different technologies, in particular for the decommissioning of the copper network. In line with FWA Forum’s recommendation to see FWA playing a greater role to help fix this connectivity issue, we are pleased to see 5G FWA mentioned in the section “Pillar II: Completing the Digital Single Market” of the white paper. Indeed, 5G FWA offers a fast, economically attractive and future proof alternative to deploying broadband services, in particular for rural and less densely populated areas where there is a connectivity gap and fiber deployment costs are high. Moreover, 5G FWA deployments bring more choice for consumers, creating a competitive and affordable broadband market.

GSA 4G-5G FWA Forum Device Ecosystem Catalogue – April 2024
The GSA 4G-5G FWA Forum Device Ecosystem Catalogue contains an overview of the growing number of companies involved in the 3GPP Fixed Wireless Access Device Ecosystem.
Companies are grouped according to where they sit in the ecosystem (ie. Chipset Suppliers, Module Suppliers or Device Suppliers). For each company there is also a single page overview of who they are and where further information can be obtained is provided.
A simple overview of all Fixed Wireless-related products being marketed at the time of issue by each company is also included.
