209 commercial 5G networks launched worldwide
By the end of February 2022, GSA had identified 427 operators in 137 countries/territories that were investing in 5G, including trials, acquisition of licences, planning, network deployment and launches. (This number excludes nearly 200 additional companies awarded spectrum in the US CBRS PAL auction, which could potentially be used for 5G.)
Of those 427, a total of 209 operators in 83 countries/territories had launched one or more 3GPP-compliant 5G services
195 operators in 62 countries/territories had launched mobile 5G services
83 operators in 45 countries/territories had launched 3GPP-compliant 5G fixed wireless access services (42% of operators with launched 5G services)
7 operators had announced soft launches of their 5G networks that are not counted in the above launch figures
119 operators are identified as investing in 5G standalone (including those evaluating or testing, piloting, planning, deploying as well as those that have launched 5G standalone networks). GSA has catalogued 20 operators as having deployed or launched 5G standalone in public networks
Over 950 commercially available 5G devices
GSA has catalogued 1,292 announced 5G devices, up by more than 105% from 628 in a year
GSA has identified 643 announced 5G phones, up 131% from 278 at the end of 2020
There are at least 958 commercially available 5G devices, up more than 137% from 404 in a year
