5G StandAlone December 2025
Our latest global status update on 5G standalone confirms accelerating deployments and a rapidly maturing device and chipset ecosystem. GSA has now identified 181 operators in 73 countries investing in public 5G standalone networks, up from 175 in the previous quarter. Since the August edition, several operators have updated their road maps or moved to launch, including SFR in France, Play in Poland and Nubicom in Paraguay.
Globally, at least 89 operators have launched public 5G standalone services, with Europe, the Middle East and Africa overtaking Asia–Pacific in total launches, reaching 40 live networks.
This update also reveals significant ecosystem growth. The number of announced devices with support for 5G standalone has risen to 2,750, up 30% year-on-year, with 2,518 commercially available, a 33.7% increase. New chipset releases such as MediaTek’s Dimensity 9500 and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 further strengthen support for advanced features including carrier aggregation.
Overall, this update highlights a dynamic and expanding landscape for 5G standalone, with growing public and private deployments and increasing support across devices, chipsets and spectrum bands.
