GSA is tracking the emergence of 5G standalone access (SA) networks, including the availability of chipsets and devices for customers, plus the testing and deployment of 5G SA networks by public mobile network operators and private network operators. This report is the latest in an ongoing series summarising market trends, drawing on data collected in GSA’s various databases covering chipsets, devices, spectrum and networks.
Findings from the latest update on the 5G standalone ecosystem include:
- There are 1,906 announced devices with claimed support for 5G SA, up 55.3% from 1,227 at the end of 2022
- Devices with support for 5G SA account for 68.1% of all 5G devices, as of the end of March 2024, up from 57.9% in December 2020
- 96 modems or mobile processors/platform chipsets state support for 5G SA, 93 of which are understood to be commercially available.
