Chipset Update – December 2025

The latest edition of GSA’s LTE, 5G and 3GPP IoT Chipsets report shows steady expansion in the cellular silicon ecosystem. Over the past year, the number of commercially available 5G mobile platforms has grown by 40% and discrete 5G cellular modems by 25%, supported by 111 newly added chipsets in GSA’s GAMBoD database. The majority of these are 5G New Radio platforms. Seven vendors now supply 5G modems and platforms, with Apple newly joining the market through its C1 modem family.

GSA has identified 148 commercially available 5G mobile platforms and 25 discrete 5G modems, with a clear trend toward increased adoption of discrete 5G modem solutions in new platforms. Support for 5G standalone continues to strengthen: 136 chipsets now state compatibility, representing 73% of all catalogued 5G silicon in GSA’s database. Feature tracking also shows 39 chipsets supporting VoNR, 119 supporting sub-6 GHz bands and 81 offering millimetre-wave capabilities.

LTE remains a significant category, with 24 discrete LTE modems and 226 LTE mobile platforms on the market. In parallel, GSA has identified 50 dedicated 3GPP IoT chipsets spanning LTE Cat-1, Cat-M1 and NB-IoT. Additional subsystem tracking now includes automotive platforms, radio-frequency integrated circuits and antenna-in-package modules, reflecting the broadening 5G device ecosystem.
A full list of the identified commercially available LTE and 5G mobile platforms and discrete modems is available, along with data on 3GPP IoT chipsets, to GSA Members and Associates in the new chipset section of our GAMBoD database last updated in November 2025.
