May 2017: At a meeting of the Board of the Regional Commonwealth in the Field of Communications (RCC) in Minsk, Belarus on the 19th April, it was agreed that the Global mobile Suppliers Association (GSA) be admitted to RCC as an observer.

Joe Barrett, President, GSA said, “GSA is very pleased to be working with RCC and supporting their initiatives in spectrum, policy and roll out of 3GPP technologies. LTE is growing at over 10% per annum in the Russia region and there are now over 36 million LTE subscriptions.[1] Operators are also asking about how they should migrate to LTE-Advanced and LTE-Advanced Pro as well as what spectrum is needed for 5G.”

“We are pleased to see the GSA as a member of the RCC Commission on Regulation of the use of the Radiofrequency Spectrum and Satellite Orbits,” said Mr. N. Mukhitdinov, Director General of the RCC Executive Committee.  “We are looking forward to further constructive and fruitful cooperation within the framework of the Regional Commonwealth in the field of Communications.”

The regional RCC GSA Spectrum Group is already contributing to local requests for information and is sharing relevant studies and reports.
