GSA has counted 22 discrete cellular LTE modem chipsets, from six vendors:
Hi-Silicon, Intel, Qualcomm, Samsung, Sanechips (formerly ZTE Microelectronics) and Spreadtrum. Other modems are produced but are integrated with other processors in mobile platforms – examples include MediaTek’s WorldMode modem integrated within many of MediaTek’s platforms.

  • 26 chipsets supporting 3GPP IoT technologies
  • 5G device chipsets announced – though none commercially available yet
