NTS Statistics January 2023

The latest data from GSA showed that 817 operators have commercially launched public LTE networks offering broadband fixed wireless access and/or mobile services. Within this, 432 operators have launched public LTE fixed wireless access services (excluding those offering MiFi or dongle services only) and 787 operators offer public mobile LTE services.

In addition, as of end of December 2022:

  • 165 operators have been identified as actively using (either deploying or have launched) TDD spectrum for LTE services
  • 603 operators have been identified as actively using (either deploying or have launched) FDD spectrum for LTE services
  • 371 operators are investing in one or more LTE-Advanced technologies, with 351 networks identified as launched
  • In 5G services, GSA has identified:
    • 515 operators in 155 countries/territories that have been investing in 5G networks in the form of tests, pilots, licence acquisitions, planned and actual deployments
    • Of those, 243 operators in 96 countries/territories have launched commercial 3GPP-compatible 5G services (mobile or fixed wireless access)
    • 112 operators are identified as investing in 5G standalone for public networks (including those evaluating, testing, piloting, planning or deploying as well as those that have launched 5G standalone networks).
  • GSA has catalogued 35 operators as having deployed or launched 5G standalone in public networks.
