How to make the best use of the globally available 5 GHz unlicensed band. There are large amounts of spectrum available in the 5 GHz band which is ideal for small cells and can serve any user.
There is collaboration with the Mobile industry and organizations like the Wi-Fi Alliance and IEEE.
LAA is part of LTE-Advanced Pro and has a rich roadmap of features that will push LTE capabilities towards 5G.
Details of the World’s first over-the-air LAA trial- a joint effort by Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. and Deutsche Telekom AG in Nuremberg, Germany during November 2015.
