Status of the LTE Ecosystem report: 5,614 LTE devices announced by 455 suppliers

This updated report was published by GSA on June 24, 2016 and confirms the mainstream and fast growing LTE user devices ecosystem. As a result of our latest research and verification process we have increased to 5,614 the number of LTE user devices we have verified as announced in the market, coming from 455 suppliers.
The number of LTE devices i.e. 5,614 as confirmed in this report is 2,361 higher than GSA reported in June 2015, representing 72% Y-o-Y growth. The number of manufacturers participating in this market grew 49% in the same period.
Cat 1, Cat 4, Cat 6, Cat 7, Cat 9, Cat 11, Cat 12 and Cat 13 user devices are quantified, confirming rapid gains in device performance and expansion of choice, as are terminals that support VoLTE and eMBMS (LTE Broadcast). For the first time device support for PTT is included in the database.
The report summarises the device support for each of the main operating FDD and TDD frequency bands. Additional bands have been included.

1800 MHz (3GPP Band 3) is the best supported spectrum for LTE deployments, having the largest LTE devices ecosystem (LTE1800). 57.4% of LTE devices can operate in band 3 spectrum.
The number of terminals that support LTE TDD (TD-LTE) is growing strongly. 2,141 LTE TDD devices are included in GSA’s database, which means that 38.1% of all LTE devices support LTE TDD (TD-LTE).
The smartphone is the largest LTE device category amongst all LTE device types. 3,580 smartphones including operator and frequency variants are announced, giving an improved 63.8% share of all LTE device types. The LTE tablet PC segment is also fast-growing. 500 products are now launched in the market.
