GSA 4G-5G FWA Forum catalogues over 135 FWA devices from more than 20 vendors in its newly launched online FWA Directory
London, UK – The GSA 4G-5G FWA Forum today unveiled its online GSA 4G/5G FWA Device Ecosystem Directory, a unique tool to access mainstream and emerging FWA vendors and their products. The online directory contains an overview of the growing number of companies involved in the 3GPP Fixed Wireless Access Device Ecosystem and today lists 135+ FWA devices from more than 20 vendors globally.
Aimed at promoting information sharing between vendors and operators to further accelerate the deployment of 4G and 5G fixed wireless access services globally, the GSA FWA Forum’s online FWA Directory (https://gsacom.com/fwa-directory/) is a fully searchable database. After free registration on the website, interested parties can browse by product type and by supplier. FWA products can be filtered by criteria including indoor/outdoor, product size, mounting option, 3GPP technologies and core network architectures, uplink and downlink throughput, and bands supported.
Currently, 23 GSA 4G/5G FWA member companies contributed to the online directory: ATEL, Casa Systems, Compal, Da Ta Technology, Fibocom, Green Packet, Huawei, Jaton Technology, Jointelli, MeiG Smart, MiWire, Nokia, Notion Infotech, Sequans, SIMCOM, SMAwave, T&W, TCL, Tozed Kangwei, Vantiva, Wavetel, WNC and Yaojin Technology.
“Fuelled by continuous technology improvement, particularly through 5G FWA advent, operators have been turning to mobile networks to deliver reliable high-speed broadband connectivity services. This commercial momentum has been met and matched by the wider FWA ecosystem delivering devices, chipsets and modules,” said Julien Grivolas, Chairman of GSA 4G-5G FWA Forum. “The promotion of LTE and 5G networks as a mainstream mechanism for the delivery of broadband services to homes and businesses is well established, with lots of value-added services provided by FWA operators, supported by a wide range of devices from many vendors. As more networks are upgraded to 5G and as more 5G CPE devices are commercialised, the GSA 4G-5G FWA Forum expects the number of 5G FWA services to keep rising.”
For reference, GSA has identified publicly announced service offers for FWA using LTE or 5G from 533 operators in 186 countries and territories and launched services from 450 operators in 171 countries and territories worldwide. As of November 2022, of the 228 operators that had announced 5G launches worldwide until end-October 2022, GSA identified 94 as marketing residential or business 5G FWA broadband services, up by more than 129% from 41 in the preceding 12 months.
In addition, the latest version of the GSA 4G/5G FWA Ecosystem Catalogue is also available for free download here: https://gsacom.com/paper/fwa-ecosystem-catalogue-february-2023-version-8/ (registration required). Companies are grouped according to where they sit in the ecosystem (ie. Chipset Suppliers, Module Suppliers, Device Suppliers as well as Software Solutions providers), and for each company, a single-page overview of who they are and where further information can be obtained is provided. A simple overview of all FWA-related products being marketed by each company at the time of issue is also included.
Formed under the auspices of the Global mobile Suppliers Association, the GSA 4G-5G FWA Forum brings together leading chipset, module, and terminal vendors – as well as other telecommunications industry representatives, who wish to promote 4G and 5G Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) technology, products and services – to report on progress of FWA deployments, identify use cases and encourage global adoption. The Forum holds two virtual Plenary sessions each year which are open to the wider industry, the most recent being held in November 2022 with a focus on the Asia Pacific (APT) region.
GSA 4G-5G FWA Forum currently counts 52 members: Asiatelco Technologies Co., Askey, ASRMicro, BEC Technologies, Casa Systems, Changhong, Compal, Da Ta Technologies, Ericsson, Esound Technology, Fibocom Wireless Inc., Friendly Technologies, Gosuncnwelink Technology, Green Packet, Haiiot Co, Huawei, IPlook, Inseego, Intelbras, Jaton Technology, Jointelli, JSC, Maxcomm, Mediatek, MeiG Smart Technology, MiWire, Mobot Mobile, Neoway, Netgear, Nokia, Notion InfoTech, Oppo, Pirlys, Qualcomm, Quectel, Sequans, Signalinks, Simcom, SMAWave, T&W, Tech Mahindra, TCL, TigerCel, Tozed Kangwei, Unisoc, Vantiva, Wavetel, WNC, YaoJin Technology, ZMTEL (Zhongmi Communications), ZTE and ZYXEL.
Membership and participation in the GSA 4G-5G FWA Forum is open to chipset, module, and device vendors, together with industry representatives from across the telecommunications ecosystem who wish to promote Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) technology, products and services.
