GSA announces 253 operators are investing in VoLTE in 113 countries, including 184 operators with commercially launched VoLTE-HD voice service in 87 countries, up from 137 operators in 65 countries 12 months ago.
Countries with identified VoLTE launches in the last year include Angola, Antarctica, Bahamas, Barbados, Bulgaria, Chile, Ecuador, Egypt, Georgia, Iceland, Israel, Lebanon, Luxembourg, Mexico, Morocco, New Zealand, Oman, Pakistan, Panama, Syria, Turkmenistan, and Vietnam.
Since the last report in August launches have been announced or identified by GSA for Alfa (Lebanon), ALTAN Redes (Mexico – wholesale), Claro (Argentina), Etisalat Misr (Egypt), Ice.net (Norway), Kingtel (Cambodia), MTN (South Africa), Telenor (Hungary and Sweden), Viettel (Vietnam), Vivacom (Bulgaria), WOM (Chile), Sprint (USA), Syriatel (Syria) and T-Mobile (Puerto Rico).
At least 24 other operators are known to be deploying VoLTE, while Telenor Pakistan has deployed the technology and expects to turn on services soon. Nearly 50 other operators are known to be planning VoLTE or are testing/trialling the technology.
