Private Mobile Networks – September 2025

The private mobile network market in 2Q25 shows steady growth. GSA has catalogued 1,846 customer references for 4G LTE and 5G private mobile network deployments valued at over €100,000, with a further 151 references between €50,000 and €100,000. Net additions in the quarter reached 74 larger deployments and 14 in the smaller value range. Although the pace of new announcements remains variable, this reflects the shift from proofs of concept to larger multisite projects, with significant activity continuing among existing customers.

Manufacturing remains the leading sector, now with 359 identified deployments, followed by education, mining and defence. Mining and manufacturing each added seven new deployments in the quarter, with further growth in seaports, smart cities and device testing. The United States continues to lead in overall adoption, while Australia, Malaysia and Mexico recorded strong percentage growth.

LTE remains the most widely used technology, accounting for just over half of known deployments, although 5G has grown to 47% when combined with LTE/5G networks. Much of this activity is concentrated in advanced markets such as Germany, Korea and Taiwan, whereas resource-based industries continue to favour LTE.

Spectrum remains a decisive factor, with the United States’ CBRS band the most widely used, and Europe and Asia–Pacific pursuing varied allocation strategies. As regulators prepare further spectrum releases, the outlook remains one of continued expansion across regions and sectors.
