MILLIMETRE WAVE SPECTRUM IS GROWING IN IMPORTANCE FOR 5G
Key bands are n257, n258, n261 (24250-29500 MHz) and n260 (37000-40000 MHz)
- 112 operators are known to have been investing in spectrum at 24.25-29.5 GHz.
- 67 operators have been licensed; 47 of them in the USA and associated territories.
- 12 of those operators are deploying, have deployed or have launched networks in the frequency range.
- A further 45 are evaluating/testing/ piloting/planning networks.
- Five operators in three countries are investing in n260, including three that have launched networks (all in the USA).
- Upcoming activity: auction underway in Taiwan, auctions/allocations planned in another 12 countries.
