5G-Ecosystem January 2024 Member report

Between November and December 2023, the number of announced 5G devices picked up 3.5% to reach a total of 2,358 devices, with the proportion of commercially available devices now up to 83.2%.

Summary statistics from the latest update on the 5G device ecosystem include:

  • 28 announced form factors
  • 261 manufacturers with announced available or forthcoming 5G devices
  • 2,358 announced devices, of which at least 1,964 are understood to be commercially available
  • 1,098 announced devices with support for standalone 5G in sub-6 GHz bands, 904 of which are commercially available
  • Fixed wireless access CPE represents 13.1% of announced 5G devices, as more manufacturers continue to roll out the technology
  • Phones are the most prevalent 5G device, with the number of announced phones rising by 39% since the end of December 2022

The number of commercially available devices has been growing steadily since the start of the year and should continue in this manner. Full information about devices in our GAMBoD database are provided in an annex for GSA members, including key details such as form factors, features and support for spectrum bands.
