5G-Ecosystem November 2022 Summary report
Summary:
The number of announced 5G devices rose by 4.5% between September and October 2022 to reach a total of 1,650 devices. Of these, 1,291 are understood to be commercially available, representing 78.2% of all announced 5G devices. This is an increase of 50.7% in the number of commercial 5G devices since the end of December 2021. Highlights this edition include:
- 24 announced form factors
- 207 manufacturers with announced available or forthcoming 5G devices
- 1,650 announced devices, including regional variants, but excluding operator-branded devices that are essentially rebadged versions of other phones. Of these, at least 1,291 are understood to be commercially available.
Not all devices are available immediately and specification details remain limited for some. We expect devices to continue to become more widely available and for more information about announced devices to emerge as they reach the market.
Based on manufacturers’ previous statements and recent rates of device release, we might expect to see the number of commercial devices approach the 1,350 mark by the end of the fourth quarter of 2022. GSA will continue to track and report on 5G device launches during the coming year. Its GAMBoD database contains important details about device form factors, features and support for spectrum bands. Summary statistics are released in this regular monthly publication.
