5G Market Snapshot February 2025
GSA’s February 2025 snapshot of the 5G market highlights the rapid growth and adoption of 5G technology worldwide, with significant investments and deployments across various regions and operators.
Annex is also included for GSA Members and Associates.
GSA has identified 619 operators in 184 countries and territories investing in 5G in the form of trials, acquisition of licenses, planning, network deployment and launches. Additionally, nearly 200 other companies were awarded priority access licenses in the US auction of CBRS spectrum, which could potentially be used for 5G.
Other highlights in this edition:
- 169 operators in 74 countries and territories have launched or soft-launched 5G fixed wireless access services based on 3GPP standards — just over 49% of those with launched 5G services.
- There are now 156 operators investing in 5G standalone access, including those evaluating, testing, piloting, planning and deploying as well as those that have launched standalone 5G networks. GSA has catalogued 70 operators as having deployed, launched or soft-launched standalone 5G in public networks.
- The number of announced 5G devices is up by more than 32% since the start of 2024, with 3,201 devices catalogued.
- Support for band n78 among 5G devices is approaching 2,500 models.
