MWC2015 report (Arvani Group): MNOs, 5G, NFV-SDN, IoT, Phones, Regulation, Mobile Payment, Wearables
By arrangement with respected independent consultancy organization Arvani Group, we provide their insightful report from the Mobile World Congress, Barcelona, March 2-5, 2015.
According to the organizers GSMA, over 93,000 delegates from 200 countries attended the show. Hard to believe that this was the tenth year that Barcelona hosted the show.
Globally, mobile penetration stands around 50%, with over 3.5 billion unique mobile subscribers in the world. By 2020, Mobile Broadband 3G coverage will grow from 70% to 80% of world population while 4G coverage will grow from 25% to over 60%.
Are operators under siege? Telecom operators are looking everywhere for growth in their revenues and profits, only to find that it is not the way they had imagined it in their minds as the market is becoming hyper challenging and competitive.
Next major generation of mobile networks, 5G, is coming slowly but surely. We’ll share the latest on 5G vision and requirements. We’ll also share the latest on NFV and SDN.
