LTE-Advanced Carrier Aggregation deployments: peak speeds report (147 networks launched)

This report is initially restricted to GSA Members companies, Associates of GSA and Network Operators.

This report will be available for general download from the 6th of September 2016.

Over 28% of LTE operators have commercially launched LTE-Advanced networks and supporting device ecosystems are maturing. A total of 192 LTE operators (37%) are deploying LTE-Advanced or LTE-Advanced Pro technologies in 84 countries, of which 147 operators (28%) have commercially launched superfast LTE-Advanced or LTE-Advanced Pro wireless broadband services in 69 countries. GSA has classified 9 of the commercially launched networks as using LTE-Advanced Pro technology.

This status report from GSA summarises the theoretical peak downlink speed for each of the 147 commercially launched LTE-Advanced and LTE-Advanced Pro networks worldwide listed in this report. Data is provided on network deployments capable of supporting user devices Category 4 , Category 6, Category 9 and Category 11.

* 147 commercially launched LTE-Advanced systems in 69 countries
* 22 systems support UE Category 4 devices (up to 150 Mbps theoretical peak downlink)
* 103 systems support Category 6 devices of which 54 support the maximum theoretical peak downlink speed of 300 Mbps. A further 30 Category 6 systems are in deployment, trial, or test phase
* 17 systems support Category 9 devices (up to 450 Mbps theoretical peak downlink). A further 54 Category 9 and beyond systems are in deployment, trial, or test phase
* 5 systems support Category 11 (up to 600 Mbps theoretical peak downlink)
