LTE Subscriptions Growth based on Ovum data.
This GSA Snapshot shows the growth of LTE subscriptions as up to Q1 2019 using data provided by Ovum.
Globally there will be more than 9.9 billion mobile subscriptions by the end of 2023.
LTE is expected to account for nearly 52% of all global subscriptions by the end of 2019, and more than 61% global market share by the end of 2022.
With Republic of Korea reporting 1 million mobile 5G subscribers in June 2019, after only 69 days of full commercial mobile service, it is clear the 5G era has arrived.
By 2023 the growth of 5G will be preventing further expansion of the LTE market. LTE subscriber numbers will reach their peak that year. At that point 5G will account for 13% of the global market, although LTE will still be dominant at 57% of all global mobile subscriptions.
