Report summary
The latest data from GSA showed that 812 operators have commercially launched public LTE networks offering broadband fixed wireless access and/or mobile services. Within this, 430 operators have launched public LTE fixed wireless access services (excluding those offering MiFi or dongle services only) and 785 operators offer public mobile LTE services.
In addition, as of end of June 2022:
165 operators have been identified as actively using (either deploying or have launched) TDD spectrum for LTE services
602 operators have been identified as actively using (either deploying or have launched) FDD spectrum for LTE services
371 operators are investing in one or more LTE-Advanced technologies, with 351 networks identified as launched
In 5G services, GSA has identified:
496 operators in 150 countries/territories that have been investing in 5G networks in the form of tests, pilots, licence acquisitions, planned and actual deployments
Of those, 218 operators in 87 countries/territories have launched commercial 3GPP-compatible 5G services (mobile or fixed wireless access)
108 operators are identified as investing in 5G standalone for public networks (including those evaluating, testing, piloting, planning or deploying as well as those that have launched 5G standalone networks). GSA has catalogued 24 operators as having deployed or launched 5G standalone in public networks.
