Public Mobile-Networks July 2023 – now including data from Opensignal
As of the end of May 2023, GSA’s data showed:
- There are 816 operators with commercially launched public LTE networks offering broadband fixed wireless access and/or mobile services
- Within this, GSA has identified: 434 operators that have launched public LTE fixed wireless access services (excludes those offering MiFi or dongle services only)
- 786 operators that offer public mobile LTE services
- 165# operators have been identified as actively using (either deploying or have launched) TDD spectrum for LTE services
- 602# operators have been identified as actively using (either deploying or have launched) FDD spectrum for LTE services
- 394 operators are investing in one or more LTE-Advanced or LTE-Advanced Pro technologies, with 351 networks identified as launched

5G data
- 532 operators in 160 countries and territories have been investing in 5G networks in the form of tests, pilots, licence acquisitions, planned and actual deployments
- Of those, 254 operators in 99 countries and territories have launched commercial 3GPP-compatible 5G services (mobile or fixed wireless access), which includes 13 operators that have soft-launched networks
- 116 operators are identified as investing in standalone 5G for public networks (including those evaluating or testing, piloting, planning or deploying as well as those that have launched standalone 5G networks). GSA has catalogued 41 operators as having deployed, launched or soft-launched standalone 5G in public networks
