GSA 4G-5G FWA Forum Plenary Update
GSA 4G-5G FWA Forum Plenary brings regulators, operators and vendors together to share FWA best practice
First public Plenary event draws over 450 registered attendees from 66 countries
London, UK, 8th April 2021 – The GSA 4G-5G FWA Forum today confirmed growing global momentum behind 4G and 5G fixed wireless access spectrum, technology and services with over 450 industry representatives from 66 countries around the world registering to attend its first public plenary, held as a virtual event on 30 March 2021.
The Plenary drew high-level speakers from regulators including AGCOM (Italy) and CITC (Saudi Arabia), operators such as Telia (Sweden) and Turkcell (Turkey), and vendors from across the chipset, module and terminal ecosystem. Over 17 regulators and government organisations, together with 37 mobile operators, participated in the event. This first GSA 4G-5G FWA Forum Plenary was sponsored by Casa Systems, Fibocom, Tozed Kangwei and Unisoc. The next public Plenary event will be held in H2 2021.

Julien Grivolas, chairman of the GSA 4G-5G FWA Forum commented: “The whole raison d’être of the Forum is to foster an environment where, as a global FWA community, we can learn from each other, promote successful experiences and identify directions in technical development. By bringing together so many regulators, operators, vendors and analysts to share their experiences and insights, this first public event delivered on those objectives. And with 84% of attendees rating the event and its content excellent/good, it is clear that is a view shared by our members and peers in the industry. On behalf of the GSA 4G-5G FWA Forum, I’d like to thank all our speakers for helping us paint a true global picture of the state of 4G and 5G fixed wireless; and of course also thank our sponsors for supporting this first public event.”
Formed under the auspices of the Global mobile Suppliers Association, the GSA 4G-5G FWA Forum brings together leading chipset, module, and terminal vendors – as well as other telecommunications industry representatives, who wish to promote 4G and 5G Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) technology, products and services – to report on progress of FWA deployments, identify use cases and encourage global adoption. Following its initial launch just four months ago, the GSA 4G-5G FWA Forum now has 36 member organisations.
As its first deliverable, the GSA 4G-5G FWA Forum published the first GSA 4G/5G FWA Device Ecosystem Directory, a unique reference guide to mainstream and emerging FWA vendors and their products, containing an overview of the growing number of companies involved in the 3GPP Fixed Wireless Access Device Ecosystem. Listing over 140 devices, it groups companies according to where they sit in the ecosystem, namely Chipset Suppliers, Module Suppliers or Device Suppliers for easy reference. The latest edition, published in March 2021 and already with over 800 downloads, is available for free download here https://gsacom.com/paper/4g-5g-fwa-company-directory-2/(registration required).
